Pink Heals Hays County announces its Truck Dedication and Naming Ceremony on September 6, 2014. Diners should mention Pink Heals when they purchase their food to have 15% of their purchase put towards the Pink Heals Truck Fund. This does not include alcoholic beverages.
Pink Heals (National) was founded in 2007 to help people battling cancer with a focus on women and what they mean to us in our daily lives. Founder Dave Graybill says, “We believe that money raised in our communities, counties and states should remain there, giving us the option to either put it towards research or deliver one hundred percent of the money generated by fundraisers to the people that need it most!”
The Hays County Pink Heals Chapter was started in 2012 and organized by Kathleen Chomel. To date, Hays County Pink Heals has raised more than $50k through t-shirt sales during guest truck appearances and an annual 5K run. Now the chapter has its own truck and will join a fleet of more than 100 trucks across the nation. The Pink Heals Hays County truck will be making appearances all over Central Texas. “This is a big deal! The closest chapter to us is in Victoria and the second is Longview,” states Chris Chomel who just returned from helping on the National Pink Heals Tour.
Pink Heals Hays County will use this truck to conduct home and hospital visits to cancer patients and their families, and will also participate in fund raisers designed to benefit local women or local support groups whose funds are kept within Hays County or the area where the funds are raised.
